Testing Software

In an effort to provide high-quality services in a consistent and standardized manner, the CableShoppe Inc. endeavors to use high-end computing devices and technology to its fullest advantage in all of its operations. Proprietary software, developed in-house, is involved in a wide variety of tasks from validations to electronics repair.


Modem Testing Software
The CableShoppe Inc.'s modem testing software, which is an integral part of the High Volume Modem Screening (HVMS) system, is capable of automatically putting modems through rigorous testing procedures from simple power tests to more complex load tests. The software tests large batches of modems simultaneously allowing 600-1000 modems to be tested using just one computer within an 8-hour day. By utilizing multiple computers in multiple locations, thousands of modems are tested daily throughout North and South America. Data on each of these modems is stored and can be provided to the CableShoppe Inc.’s customers at any time. These statistics can isolate common problems with individual models or versions.
Digital Set-Top Box Screening
The testing of Digital Set-Top Boxes is a complex process that involves the use of a dozen pieces of electronic testing equipment. To remove as much human error as possible from this process, software designed in-house by the CableShoppe Inc. meticulously runs a set of thorough tests on the capabilities of the unit, recording vital measurements and other data. Detailed test results assist in the isolation of specific faults in problem units to speed up the repair process.
Repair Tracking Software
This piece of software was also designed in-house by the CableShoppe Inc. and is currently undergoing deployment. Detailed step-by-step instructions allow technicians to ensure all units are repaired in a standardized manner consistent with the requirements of the CableShoppe Inc.’s customers. This interactive program allows the technician to take measurements and respond to questions regarding the unit under repair in order to isolate the problem to which the program then offers the appropriate solution. By tracking each response and measurement taken by the technician, the CableShoppe Inc. provides a method of repair that is fully traceable, keeping those responsible for the repair accountable for their work.
